A pot\u00eancia do feixe de pr\u00f3tons da fonte, um dos principais indicadores de desempenho da instala\u00e7\u00e3o, dever\u00e1 aumentar de 100 kW para 500 kW, disse Wang Sheng, vice-diretor do Instituto de F\u00edsica de Altas Energias (IHEP, sigla em ingl\u00eas) da Academia Chinesa de Ci\u00eancias (CAS, em ingl\u00eas) e diretor-geral do projeto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp;A constru\u00e7\u00e3o da fase II da CSNS deve levar cinco anos e nove meses, de acordo com Wang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp;&#8220;Ap\u00f3s a conclus\u00e3o da fase II, a fonte poder\u00e1 gerar mais n\u00eautrons ao mesmo tempo, o que significa que o tempo dos experimentos poder\u00e1 ser reduzido e a resolu\u00e7\u00e3o dos experimentos poder\u00e1 ser melhorada, permitindo a medi\u00e7\u00e3o de amostras menores e o estudo de processos din\u00e2micos mais r\u00e1pidos&#8221;, disse Wang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp;O escopo de aplica\u00e7\u00e3o e as capacidades da CSNS ser\u00e3o bastante aprimorados ap\u00f3s a conclus\u00e3o da fase II, e o n\u00famero de experimentos tamb\u00e9m aumentar\u00e1 significativamente para ajudar na pesquisa cient\u00edfica de ponta e no desenvolvimento econ\u00f4mico, acrescentou Wang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp;A grande instala\u00e7\u00e3o cient\u00edfica pode produzir e acelerar pr\u00f3tons antes de esmag\u00e1-los no alvo para produzir n\u00eautrons, e os feixes de n\u00eautrons ser\u00e3o direcionados para atingir amostras de materiais. Assim, os pesquisadores podem inferir com precis\u00e3o a estrutura at\u00f4mica dos materiais medindo a distribui\u00e7\u00e3o de n\u00eautrons espalhados e suas mudan\u00e7as em energia e momentum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp;A dispers\u00e3o de n\u00eautrons contribuiu para muitas \u00e1reas da f\u00edsica, qu\u00edmica, biologia, ci\u00eancia dos materiais e engenharia de materiais, onde as aplica\u00e7\u00f5es variam de produtos de consumo a materiais fotovoltaicos e administra\u00e7\u00e3o de medicamentos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp;A constru\u00e7\u00e3o do projeto CSNS come\u00e7ou em 2011 sob a dire\u00e7\u00e3o do IHEP, com um investimento total de 2,3 bilh\u00f5es de yuans (US$ 323 milh\u00f5es). Colocado em uso em agosto de 2018, a CSNS \u00e9 a quarta fonte de n\u00eautrons de pulso de espala\u00e7\u00e3o do mundo, depois do Reino Unido, dos Estados Unidos e do Jap\u00e3o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp;Atualmente, o n\u00famero de usu\u00e1rios registrados da CSNS ultrapassou 6 mil, e mais de 1,5 mil projetos experimentais, incluindo mais de 100 conduzidos por usu\u00e1rios do exterior, foram conclu\u00eddos, alcan\u00e7ando importantes resultados cient\u00edficos, segundo Wang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp;Concentrando-se nas fronteiras internacionais de ci\u00eancia e tecnologia e atendendo \u00e0s principais demandas de desenvolvimento do pa\u00eds, a CSNS tem apoiado pesquisas nas \u00e1reas de energia, f\u00edsica, materiais e engenharia, como estudos sobre componentes aeroespaciais, baterias de \u00edon-l\u00edtio, c\u00e9lulas solares, magnetismo de terras raras, supercondutividade de alta temperatura, filmes finos funcionais, ligas de alta resist\u00eancia e efeitos de part\u00edculas \u00fanicas em chips, disse Zhang Junrong, respons\u00e1vel pelos experimentos de usu\u00e1rios e pela aplica\u00e7\u00e3o do projeto CSNS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp;&#8220;H\u00e1 uma necessidade urgente de atualizar a CSNS para atender \u00e0s crescentes demandas dos usu\u00e1rios&#8221;, assinalou Zhang, acrescentando que a fase II da CSNS dar\u00e1 suporte a uma gama mais ampla de pesquisas em campos como material qu\u00e2ntico supercondutor magn\u00e9tico, ci\u00eancias da vida, desenvolvimento de medicamentos e design de materiais catal\u00edticos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp;Na cerim\u00f4nia de lan\u00e7amento do projeto da fase II da CSNS, realizada no s\u00e1bado, Lu Fangjun, chefe do departamento de gerenciamento de infraestrutura de ci\u00eancia e tecnologia da CAS, disse que a CSNS forneceu uma plataforma de pesquisa de ci\u00eancia de n\u00eautrons de classe mundial para os usu\u00e1rios e alcan\u00e7ou um grande n\u00famero de conquistas importantes em \u00e1reas como novos materiais de energia, aeroespacial e explora\u00e7\u00e3o de \u00e1guas profundas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp;A \u00e1rea da Grande Ba\u00eda de Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau est\u00e1 se tornando uma das regi\u00f5es com importantes infraestruturas cient\u00edficas e tecnol\u00f3gicas mais concentradas da China. In the city of Dongguan lies a world-class sci-tech project -- China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS). Over 1,000 research tasks have been tackled since it started in August 2018. Dubbed as a \"super microscope,\" a spallation neutron source can produce and accelerate protons before smashing them into the target to produce neutrons, and the neutron beams will be directed to hit material samples. Researchers can thus accurately infer the atomic structure of the materials by measuring the distribution of scattered neutrons and their changes in energy and momentum. The CSNS is a national major scientific and technological infrastructure and multi-disciplinary applied research platform, with 20 neutron channels planned and 22 neutron instruments and experimental terminals capable of construction. The CSNS provides strong support for research in materials science and technology, physics, chemistry and chemical industry, life science, and new energy in China. At present, the CSNS has completed 10 rounds of open operation.
